How can troubleshoot a Dell Monitor

A monitor screen is the part of desktop computer which displays data. But it may be utterly discouraging when the computer boots up, and we find our self sitting there looking at a dark screen. Most times monitor problems can easy to fix. But in many cases, when a computer monitor won't come on, it may take a bit of detective work to find the cause. Fortunately, we don't have to be a technical expert to solve some of the most common monitor problems.

Things for Need

·         Additional data cable

1.      Make to sure that the desktop computer is receiving power. If it is, we should see lights on the computer's tower case. We should also hear fans running inside the tower when we first turn on the computer and boot up. We may even hear a beeping sound.

2.      See if the power cord attached with the monitor from behind is plugged to the surge protector, which should be plugged with the wall outlet. One of those cords may have come unplugged.

3.      Turn on to the monitor power switch. The power light should come on normally. Once we confirm that the computer is receiving power but anything displays on the monitor screen, check to see if the brightness and contrast control settings are turned down as too low.

4.      Check to the data cable that connects the monitor to the computer. The cable might be loose. Turn off to the power button on the front of the monitor before securing the cable firmly in place.

5.      Unscrew to the monitor data cable and unplug it from the back to the computer if the monitor’s light still fails to come on and we get nothing on the screen. Once we disconnect the power cable from the monitor, and we get an error or a "no signal" message on the screen, the cable may be the problem. The pins on the end of the cable may be bent. Try connecting a new data cable to the monitor to see if that works properly.

6.      Test to see if the computer itself is working properly. Connect to another monitor screen to the desktop. If anything displays on that monitor, there could be a problem with to the computer and not to the monitor. Then again, if the other monitor works, we know that the computer isn't the problem. Another way to test the original monitor is to connect it with a different computer. If it still doesn't work, we shall probably have to replace the monitor screen.
